Last week, I put out five of my ‘top’ Jekyll and Hyde resources – the stuff I think has aged reasonably well and I still tend to use them fairly regularly. Here’s five for Macbeth. Take a look below for a brief overview and a button to download the teaching resource…
1. Exam style task and whole-class feedback sheet
A simple task on how the character of Macbeth changes as the play progresses and a feedback sheet that I gave to my year 10 students after they’d completed it. Not sure if it’s helpful, but I’ve also put some other specimen exam tasks in the folder. They’re from a couple of years ago and based on the Eduqas English Literature exam, but they should be easy enough to adapt.
2. Literacy ‘do now’ tasks
Last week, I wrote a short blog on how I start most of my lessons. Usually, I ask students to copy and correct a short piece of writing that will relevant to new content covered later on. If you click on the link, you’ll be taken through to a series of slides with the Macbeth tasks I gave my wards at the beginning of the academic year.
3. Characterisation overview – click here
A one-page overview for students that contains what I call the ‘fundamentals’ on three characters – Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and Macduff. Useful for revision or as the basis for questioning and discussion.
4. Revision extracts – click here
A selection of extracts from the play and also banks of key words. When I used the resource earlier in the term, I squished the first two pages together to form a single A3 sheet and then did the same with the final two pages.
5. 50 quiz questions – click here
Finally, a really simple one: 50 quiz questions on Macbeth. Answers in a friendly red.
I hope the resources are useful. Feedback always welcome.
